About Us

The Great Lakes Stair & Millwork Company was founded in 1990 in Hinckley Ohio, just 20 miles south of Cleveland. Over the years we have grown to our current complex, which includes a 40,000 square foot production facility. Through this facility we are able to produce an average of 250 custom staircases each year. Our showroom features thousands of pictures of  completed jobs from around the U.S. and neighboring countries. Our custom ornamental iron fabrication shop is housed on site to meet any specific decorative iron needs.

We understand the importance and impact of a well designed and built staircase can have on any home. To ensure each staircase we build meets or exceeds your expectations, we assign each job it's own manager. Our job managers have at least 20 years of experience in the stair business and our stair craftsman have 25-30 years of stair building experience. Our equipment is State-of-the-Art with advanced manufacturing technology that keeps costs down and our pricing competitive. Our CAD design services make it easy to custom create your own staircase - giving us infinite custom handcrafting abilities. You dream it, we build it.

We especially cater to the discerning individual building their own dream home, without professional builder involvement. However, we do work with the production home builder to the ultimate custom home builder. We are the only staircase fabricator to offer Good, Better and Best staircase construction techniques. This system allows anyone, no matter what your budget, to feature a custom staircase in your home.

We use only the finest Northern hardwoods and specific exotic woods, only from the finest sources.

To make your stair buying experience easy, we have created the "Easy Selection Process". Just send us a picture of a staircase you like, and we will duplicate it for your new home. To make it even easier, we also offer complete field measuring services. Measuring can be completely our responsibility - not yours. This assured the fit and finish.
